Maribel obtained a graduate degree in Clinical and Industrial Psychology from the University of Salamanca, and an MBA from ICADE Business School. She completed a Senior Executive Program in Travel & Tourism at IESE. She is also a member of the Latin American & Caribbean SAHIC Advisory Committee and of the Advisory Committee of the Tourism Innovation Summit.
Currently Senior Advisor in different international companies in the transport and hospitality sector as well as Vice President of the Aviation and Tourism Forum. For 10 years she was Senior Vice President of the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC). During her career she has developed an extensive network with the global travel and tourism industry in both the public and private sectors. Commercial Director and Member of the Operating Committee of Travelodge Hotels between 2008 and 2014, she has also been a member of the Madrid Hotel Business Association and a member of the Tourism Commission for the promotion of Madrid. For 11 years she has worked in airlines where she was responsible for the launch and operations of low cost airlines for the Southern European markets in companies such as: Virgin Express (Brussels), Go-Fly (London), EasyJet and Ryanair. She has also been Marketing and Sales Director for GB Airways, a British Airways franchisee for the Spanish, Portuguese and French markets.
